About the FRG

What is FRG?

Family Readiness Group!!
FRG's are established to provide activities and support to enhance the flow of information, increase the resiliency of unit soldiers and their families, provide practical tools for adjusting to military deployments and separations, and enhance the well-being and morale within the unit. The activities emphasized will vary depending on whether the unit is in pre/post deployment, deployed, or in a training/sustainment period at home station. Since one of the goals of an FRG is to support the military mission through provision of support, outreach, and information to family members, certain FRG activities are essential and common to all groups, and include member meetings, staff and committee meetings, publication and distribution of newsletters, maintenance of virtual FRG websites, maintenance of updated rosters and readiness information.

We are however in a college setting most of the tools will be used to prepare our cadets and families for the days following graduation.

The Fighting Eagles FRG has been established to provide support for cadets and their families during their time at Eastern Washington University. The University ROTC experience is a unique one as it mixes prior service members returning to school with non military students for whom the ROTC is their first exposure to the Army. Because of this, our FRG is also unique and we encourage not only spouse involvement but also the involvement of parents, friends, family members, and mentors. During our cadets time in the EWU ROTC program they are developed into the best leaders they can be in preparation for their potential commissioning as officers in the Army. Like those cadets, we aim to prepare families for what lies ahead and offer the support and information necessary to build strong military families ready for life after graduation.

How do I get involved?

We love volunteers!!! Please contact our units FRG leader for details on meeting times and about current projects.
